Southside Comedy
Friday July 7th , 9pm
On Thursday July 7, local resident Kevin Gildea will headline the Southside Comedy Club in the Portview Hotel Dun Laoghaire.
Kevin Gildea is a comedy genius and one of the most sought after acts on the UK and Irish circuit. He’s an oddball with a definite twinkle and an affinity with quirky, small clubs. His Edinburgh Fringe shows are critically acclaimed sell-outs, and he has written for Alexei Sayle and appeared on TV's The Stand Up Show, The Comedy Store St Patrick's Day Special and The Amnesty International Comedy Special.
Kevin is a sell out Edinburgh performer and an astonishing critical success. His mild manner and quirky absurdist viewpoint pave the way for side-splittingly funny ruminations. Well and truly in the premier league of comics, Kevin is the definition of 'must see'.
"Highly original, explosively funny... challenging and provocative, Gildea is an 'out there' performer." - The Sunday Times
Supporting Kevin on the night will be John Lynn. John has been supporting acts up and down the country for the last number of years. A regular at the home of Irish Comedy in Dublin’s Comedy Cellar he has also appeared on RTE’s Liffey Laughs show.
Neil Delamere is fast becoming one of Ireland's hottest new comedy exports. In his relatively short career Neil has already garnered accolades, including winning the RTE New Comedy Awards in 2001, and featuring in both Channel 4's "So You Think You're Funny?" Competition and the BBC New Comedy Awards.
Based in Dublin, Neil has performed all over Ireland as well as at the prestigious Kilkenny, Adelaide, and Edinburgh Festivals. Hailed by the Irish Independent for his countless MC skills, Neil has broadened his appearances to include Brussels, Amsterdam, as well as numerous venues around the UK, North America and Australia.
He is a regular on RTE’s The Panel and he represented Ireland at the Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal last year.
